Apple Will Expand the On-Demand Music Market, Without Freemium

As Apple prepares to launch its much-anticipated on-demand streaming music service based on Beats Music next month, rumored to be called Apple Music, there has been a lot of talk about its pricing and whether it will offer a limited free tier of service, a la Spotify.  Apple doesn’t intend to offer a free tier, and despite its attempt to price the service at $5/month, the major record companies have insisted that it conform to the industry standard of $10/month.
