CBS, NBC Not Interested In Doing Business With Bill Simmons At The Moment

Bill Simmons, founder of Grantland and recently unemployed sportswriter, isn’t on the hiring radar of two major sports networks right now, according to a new report.
Sports Business Daily writer John Ourand was at a panel on Wednesday featuring NBC Sports Group chair Mark Lazarus and CBS Sports chair Sean McManus who both said they’re not interested in doing business with Simmons at the moment.
Meanwhile, FOX Sports president Eric Shanks was a little more coy at the event in the Paley Center for Media in Manhattan. Shanks said he’s met the famous sports blogger “once or twice” in the past, but his network will have to “wait and see” if they have an interest in hiring Simmons, Ourand writes.
ESPN decided to part ways with the 45-year-old sportswriter two weeks ago, after a long period of tension between him and the network’s top executives in Bristol, Conn.
